Performance Review
I love using the XP 20 as a side arm or last resort weapon, it can also prove a fun gun to use in squirt fests, pistol fights, and indoor battles.  Back in 1998 the XP 20 was arguably the best pistol you could buy.  As I write this, in 2011, the XP 20's performance is average in comparison to other pistols out there.  The newer Max D pistols do shoot further, but are uncomfortable to use for anyone over the age of 9.  The Storm 750 takes fewer pumps and has a sleaker design, but is also larger.  Most recently, the Water Warriors Goblin, ironically made by the same Larami engineers that desiged the Super Soaker XP 20, offers greater range and the ability to connect up to a hose for infinite supply.

Even so, after 13 years, the XP 20 is still a good, fun, reliable pistol to use.  It was rereleased in 2001 in a double pack, and might have been rereleased another year as well.  You can often find these on ebay.

Structural Review
The XP 20 is a very sturdy pistol.  Unlike Max Ds which use ball valves, the XP 20 uses a pull valve to fire the weapon.  Pull valves, while not generally shooting as far, do, on average, tend to last longer than ball valves.
The 98 version sports a transparent yellow tank that allows you to check your ammo levels.  The 2001 version (seen in the main pic), featured an opaque reservoir.  The opaque reservoir is a little stronger than the see through tank of the '98 model.  Other than that, performance is identicall.

Pros: small size, high durability

Cons: low range, low output vs larger weapons
