The new and improved Super Soaker 100 is one of my
all time favorite soakers. It's in my opinion the best light
rifle ever made, and one of the most underrated Super Soakers of all
times. The range on this gun beats everything in its class, with
the exception of the Max D 6000. The amount of shots you can get
per tank also outclasses all but the Max D 6000. Ironically
enough the very reason I recommend the new(er) 100 over the 6000 is the
very reason most other sites would recommend the opposite. What
reason is that? Durability. It is true, the pump, barrel,
and check valve are all on the fragile side; but with proper care and
maintenance the 100 will last indefinitely. There are no springs
or rubber firing valves in this gun, just plain old fashioned plastic
pipes and tubing. My brother and I both own 10 year old SS 100
m2s (as of 2009) and both are in great shape. My friend Josh also
owns an old m2 and it still works. In fact, out of 5 SS 100 m2s
that my friends and I have owned 3 still work. By comparison all
3 Max D 6000s broke within a year and a half. Even my XP 110
doesn't work anymore. This gun will last if you take care of that.
With that being said I think that this gun should only be handled by
veterans who can properly use it. I know that the tendancy in a
water war is to give the lighter guns to newbies and any children that
might be playing but I highly advise against this. The pump may
snap in the wrong hands, or someone may leave your gun overpressurized
which may crack the plastic around the check valve. Also, you
need to have a decent knowledge of long range engagement tactics to use
this gun effectively. Those new to water wars will not know how
to properly use the 100 and are better off with a simpler more
structurally sound blaster.
Tactically I recommend this as a primary arm for scouting. It
will do a good job if you can't get your hands on a CPS Aquapack
Devastator or XP 150. The pros of the new 100 are its light
weight, long range, and high capacity. The range is great for
keeping opponents at bay until you are reinforced by heavier weaponry.
Structural Review
Pros: Light weight, long range, high
capacity, longevity if well cared for
Cons: Fragile pump shaft, plastic
around check valve can be broken if left overpressurized
