Performance Review
At first glance the Secret
Strike is just another over/under style carbine similar to the Max D Liquidator. Although the
Max D Secret Strike looks and feels similar to many over/under style
blasters it's actually lot more complex. The chamber that you see
on the top half is the firing chamber for the "secret strike." If
this was really any sort of secret, it would be a bad secret, because
the "secret strike" nozzle is actually just a fan blast. The fan
blast is activated by pushing down on the big orange button on top of
the blaster. It can do a lot of soaking at close range, but
because it's a fanblast it's not all that powerful. A larger
nozzle, riot blast, or one of the spray settings found in the Monster
series would be more effective. I have thought about drilling the
nozzle out, but the gun broke on me before I could do this. When
you drain the firing chamber for the fan blast it instantly pulls in
more water from the reservoir. This means that the last shot you
take will have to be the fan blast.
The regular nozzle is average when compared to blasters similar in size
and shape. The range and power you get from the regular nozzle is
fairly good since it's a Max D, but as it's a Max D the trigger/nozzle
system is bound to break over time.
Ultimately, this is a decent choice for scouting, especially if you are
in an air pressure only game, but I would not use it in a battle
against CPS weapons - especially not in elimination based games.
Structural
Review
This is a very different kind of gun. The pump is an air pump,
and the primary nozzle operates off the air pressurized
reservoir. However, once the air pressure reaches a certain
amount, a valve opens and water begins to fill the firing
chamber. The firing chamber is what feeds the secret strike fan
nozzle. This is annoying, because at some point - and you won't
know when - you will be feeding water to pressurize your almost
entirely useless fan nozzle. You're pretty much just wasting
valuable ammo at this point.
As has already been mentioned, this gun has an over/under style
design. I feel that this works a lot better for the Max D Liquidator than it does for this
gun. The reason I say that is because there is a lot more weight
on the bottom of this gun than there is at the top, which makes it a
tad bit cumbersome.
Lastly, I have never known anyone to own a Secret Strike that didn't
eventually break. This is an early Max D gun, so the spring that
connects the nozzle to the trigger is very weak. This is the nail
in the coffin for why I wouldn't recommend this gun.
Pros:
good range and stream lamination
Cons:
useless fan nozzle, kind of bulky for its size, max d trigger will break
